LAKEWAY ELEMENTARY PTO
Regular Board Meeting
May 6, 2003
LWE Conference Room
Newly elected President, Jennifer Neuse called the meeting to order at 10:45 a.m.
Melanie Hudelson motioned to dispense with the reading of the previous minutes until the next LWE Board Meeting. Motion carried
1st VP – Volunteers – Cynthia Casto
Cynthia reported that new volunteers for son-cones, Sally Foster and Entertainment Passbooks have been secured.
She also reported that a chairperson for t-shirts is still needed.
3rd VP – Fundraising – Cheri DeLong
Cheri stated that the Fall Festival is set for October 25th. Early preparations need to be made.
Treasurer’s Report – Shelley McCannon/Kelly Sagami
Kelly/Shelley presented the proposed budget for 2003-2004 (to be presented to the General Meeting on May 15th). Motion carried.
Cheri DeLong motioned to amend the Carnival Expense by $300.00. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business
Nominations & Elections – An Election to fill the At Large Representative/General position was held. Tesha Blevins received 3 votes of members present and voting. Meike Alana received 6 votes of members present and voting. Meike Alana was elected to fill the vacant position of the At Large Representative/General.
In the past, discussion was held regarding joining the National PTO Network. After some discussion, Shelley motioned that we approve funds necessary to join this network for the valuable information and discounts available to members. Motion carried.
New Business
Three members are needed for the audit review committee. Anyone willing to volunteer needs to talk to Shelley McCannon.
LWE PTO needs 3 or more check signers. Cheri DeLong motioned to approve: Jennifer Neuse, Shelley McCannon, Cynthia Casto, and Lisa Leyva as board members who may provide required signatures on checks. Motion carried.
Back to School Activities- Jennifer and Lori discussed plans for back to school activities for "New Parent/Kindergarten Parent Breakfast. Details will come once plans are confirmed. Other grade level programs will be determined and announced at a later date.
After discussion, the 2003-2004 LWE PTO Board Members, present, unanimously agreed that the meeting date and time for the PTO Board Meetings for the new school year will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
Lyn Quinn and Jennifer Neuse discussed Red Ribbon Week/Character Education and reported that our Counselor, Rita Jenkins doesn’t want to do the Police Ice program previously done. They will all work together to present a program for PTO support.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
